Getting back on track Post Festivities

Hey Guys and Dolls!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! I am sorry that it has taken a while since my last post however I have been ever so busy! I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and let your hair down a little bit because I certainly did!

Master Cleanse

As you all know I completed a 10 day Master Cleanse in which I only drank 'lemonade' (64 oz  per day of a mixture of: Maple Syrup, Lemon, Cayenne Pepper, and water) I also did a 3 day 'ease out' in which I built up my system to eating solid food again.

So how was it? Overall I achieved great results with the cleanse. I lost some extra inches which made me a perfect UK size 10, I went down to 58kgs (129llbs) which I hadn't seen on the scale since I was 17/18 years old (10 years ago!!!) The cleanse also gave my digestive system a break which is much appreciated as I had been experiencing some trouble prior to commencing the cleanse.

I found that 'days 3 and 4' were the hardest of the 10 days as I experienced tiredness! It was from this point on that I decided that even a brisk uphill climb on the treadmill was too much for me and I cut out the gym altogether. There are people who can perfectly get some workouts in however I just felt it was not necessary since I had no source of energy from solid food. I would say anyone trying out the  cleanse should listen to their body! Do not push yourself over the edge. I still lost weight with minimal activity.

Would I recommend the Master Cleanse?

It is definitely not for the faint hearted, to do this cleanse you have to be ready mentally and physically, if you are not you would find it all too easy to give up and start eating again.

Useful tips

  1. I suggest if you plan to do the cleanse do it when you have no major event or party to go to within the period of the 10 days.
  2. Whilst you detox your body why not detox your kitchen of foods/snacks that may tempt you?
  3. Try and stay busy during the cleanse- this makes your day go much faster
  4. Stay hydrated- make sure you drink enough water
  5. Sleep- make sure you get enough sleep to help boost energy levels
  6. POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE - don't be negative, believe in yourself you CAN do it!!!
  7. Keep a dairy, it could help you stay focused
  8. Don't obsess over the scales! I think I weighed myself twice during the cleanse
I hope you will find those tips useful whilst you decide or undertake the cleanse. In concluding about the Master Cleanse I do not regret doing the cleanse and I plan to do it once or twice a year from now on!

What Next?

Well Christmas day has come and gone, and I did indulge over the break although I must admit probably not  as much as I ever did in the past. In the  scheme of what I am used to now though I definitely put the lifestyle to one side for a few days! But that is okay! Because tomorrow is another day!!!

So all you readers that are feeling slightly guilty about what you put in your mouth not to worry!!! You can always start over. Just keep your eye on the ball! Maintain a Healthy balanced diet and continue to keep up your activity level and you will reach your desired goals.

So I shall be starting a fruit detox on the 29 December  which will last 5 days. I know a lot of people whilst doing such a detox would usually juice the fruits, however I shall just plainly eat fruits like a Vegan and make sure I drink plenty of water through out the day. A fruit detox will not be as intense as the Master Cleanse so I will manage the Insanity workout which I am starting in the New Year (by the grace of God) Yay! Let me say this now, detoxing/cleansing are what they are, they are not a substitute to a healthy balanced diet! This is simply because it can not be maintained over a very long period of time. They are done  to rid the body of toxins and also to help lose weight fast. If you want to maintain a healthy weight you MUST change your lifestyle. No point doing a cleanse and once finished go back to eating KFC!

I have nothing further to say at this point! However if you have any questions, tweet me (@bunmilosingit), or leave your message below and I will get back to you!!!

Have a wonderful New Year my lovelies! I pray God will keep you all and I pray he will grant you all good health! Amen!

My next post will be a while as I have lots of fun stuff planned in the new year! So all please stay safe, enjoy and keep pushing towards your goals! YOU CAN DO IT!

Stay Blessed xxx

Staying on track during the Holidays

Hey Guys and Dolls!

So the holiday month is upon us all, and there are lots of parties planned through out the month! The question is how do you prevent yourself from over indulging throughout the festive season and thereby losing ground on your hard work so for? Well keep reading for some helpful tips which I have used along the way when I had to attend a function.

It is important that you plan ahead! I know its the holidays and yes we all deserve time off from being so strict with our nutrition, but I have found sometimes in the past being too laid back got me back to square one and we do not want that!!

So here are a few useful tips to help you during the holidays and when attending functions:-

  1. Do not attend a function with an empty stomach. Make sure that you have a healthy snack before you leave the house; this will prevent you from over indulging on unhealthy food.
  2. Keep away from the fried and oily looking foods
  3. Dressing and dips should be kept on the side, if possible avoid them altogether (or opt for mustard)
  4. Go for the food that has been boiled, grilled or baked
  5. Opt for lean meats such as: Chicken, Turkey and Fish, avoid Beef, Pork etc
  6. Fill your plate with lots of Vegetables or fresh salad!!
  7. Avoid food that has been drenched in oil and butter
  8. If there is food that you must have then why not have a small bite instead of a meal size portion?
  9. Don't eat something for the sake of eating it
  10. When you are full listen to your stomach!
  11. There will probably be plenty of alcohol floating around, if needs must opt for a small glass of red and stick to water for the rest of the evening.
  12. Instead of opting for the party bites i.e nuts, crisps etc why not opt for bite size raw vegetables with hummus or light dressing
  13. It is okay to say No
  14. When you attend a work do it is okay to take healthy snacks with you, its the fact that you attended that matters.
  15. You do not have to attend every function! So make sure you prioritise!
  16. Do not throw your workout regimen  out the window!
That's it people; if you stick to most of the tips above then you should remain on track! However do not worry if you can not stick to it, you can always get back on track the next day! There is always a chance to make up for a 'bad day at the office' so do not beat yourself up for a few slip ups.

Right that is it for now! If you have any questions please leave them below! Happy Holidays xoxo
